Second - if there is hows everyone feel about Colorado?

3rd - Throu in any suggestions so if we want to plan a 2nd annual gathering we have a little time to work on it.

Every one ride safe.

Ghost, I am already planning on being there again for this one. Colorado is excellent. I plan on riding out, meeting with everyone and riding, I will probably head north to a bunch of the state parks after a few days then back to Florida.
Keep me posted and let me know if I can be of any assistance with the planning.

Like the idea. Planning that far in advance is always a problem. I have done CO maybe 10 times and there are no bad trips in Colorado. How long and how much time there. Pikes Peak, if your nose doesn't bleed, Rocky Mtn Nal't Park, Winter park, Rabbit Ears Pass, Steam Boat, Flaming Gorge Nal't park, Leadville, Keystone, Silverton, Durango, Mesa Verda and I failed to list more than I thought of. Would be a wonderful trip. I always liked leaving for CO on Labor Day weekend, still early enough that weather is generally not a problem, most of the tourists are gone and is too early for skiers. Rates are lower at motels.
Schedule permitting, you lead, we will follow.

Ghost,
I would like to suggest making the ride early in June, not as hot then in the SE or the desert SW thats where we will be riding to get there for this one. Fewer tourists and campers at that time also.
I plan on spending several days with all of you in colorado then will head out to take in Yellowston and some other areas and take the northern rout back. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth, I know several of the guys from the first ride are planning on making this one as well. It should be an even greater gathering than the first one!

We will plan on a June time frame, its still early, so I think if we can start finalizing dates so people have roughly 6 months to schedule time off from work will work best. , at the first of the year when all the bike rally schedules are out. So hopefully we will avoid competing with other rallies etc. Lets set a tentative date of June 14 thru the 21 (Sunday thru Sunday).. This gives us the option of leaving it, or changing one week earlier or one week later fairly easily.

Robert,
Believe me this won't fall thru the cracks. I am planning on comming from Florida for this ride and will be out probably three weeks altogether. We did the same for the Dragon ride coveriing most of the S.E. before meeting everyone at the Iron Horse Camp ground. We plan on covering alot of the SW before meeting up with everyone, then heading up to the Yellowstone area before returning home. Les did a great job organizing the Dragon ride and he will do a great j ob on this one, I am sure he will appreciate all the assistance you can give and everyone elses participation as well. Lets all meet in the Rockies this year and have a great time!

One of the top riding areas in the country, and a location we may want to concider is the SanJuan Skyway.

Robert, Unique experience is right, I really enjoyed meeting a bunch of the guys when we did the Dragon ride. It is always fun to put a face to the people you have been chating with, I would like to se at least a hundred riders show up for this one!

Here is a link to a good motel in Durango. We have stayed there before and there is a campground too. The campground is just south of the Motel and I don't have a link to it but the Motel may be able to tell you who to get ahold of to find out.

We love Durango and all the surrounding areas and this is just a sample of what's available.

Ghost:

Good idea. If you travel a little west from Cheyenne and then come down thru Winter Park, then the options really get good from there to Durango. Depending on how many show for the ride , scheduling overnite could be dicy.

Ghost,
For us. it is a long route north to turn around and come back. We will still be in Durango when everyone arrives. I have traveled that route before and some parts are breath taking.
