Every year on the second full weekend in October on a Sunday the V-Twin Cruisers Motorcycle Club of N.E. Ohio holds a "Covered Bridge Festival Ride" in Ashtabula County Ohio. They meet at McDonalds on Route 534 & I-90 in Geneva, Ohio with a scheduled pull out time of 11:00 am sharp. They have been doing this ride for the past 15 years and it just keeps getting better and better. On a warm sunny day they have almost 200 bikes in attendence, but this years run was down quite a bit with cold weather in the low 40's, but at least it was sunny.
This is a nice slow and easy fall ride through the Ashtabula country side, small rural towns and some very nice covered bridges. The ride stops at certain covered bridges along the way to take picture and to purchase hot cider, chili and bake goods from area Cub Scouts & Girl Scout groups. Out of the 17 covered bridges in Ashtabula County (the most in the state of Ohio), 16 are passable by vehicle. Ashtabula County also holds title to the longest and highest covered bridge in the United States.
I hope you will come and join us on next years ride or plan a trip of your own, these are some of the best covered bridges around groubed together in one county.
