Has anyone figured a legal and humane way to keep dogs off your ankles?

I have never had the problem! Try contacting your local animal control and reporting the dog, I am sure there is a leash law where you live as most places have one. Boots should prevent most nips on the ankle

I have not had that problem yet! Dogs often chase motorcycles. Whatever you do, resist the urge to kick at the dog, as this could throw you off-balance. I've read a good plan of action when approaching a dog (especially one that seems intent on chasing you) is to slow, downshift, honk your horn, and then accelerate past the point of interception. This will throw off the dog's planned point of interception and confuse it.

I'll bite.LOL When I have a dog that is in my normal route of travel and have to deal with regularly, I use an air horn like you can get at Wal Mart to scare the dog water out of the varmit.

If nothing else works and it's a constant problem, a cheap water pistol and ammonia goes a long way....left handed, of course.

The best defense is a strong offense , bite the s.o.b. back!! Many times while i was out riding I could be seen or heard motioning to or screaming at the wildlife population. Something to the tune of "crazy rabbit , watch where your going" or "f&cking deer , dont make me turn this bike around"

a club is sadistic. a putter is humane.

Have such an animal on my route to work, leaps out of the bushes and chases me. Thought about leaving a note in the mail box of the home where this happens informing them that I have their address at home for my family so in the event that I die on that length of road said family can come after them in court.

Did I just catch a faint whiff of innuendo?

isn't an innuendo an Italian suppository ? and I guess a whiff of it would go with the chaps.
