Another trip to the Dragon's Tail

Sounds like a great ride! Planning on doing this in April, maybe March. Don't you love the sound of floorboards scrapping and sparking?

Risers

That is so true! Wish it did not cost so much to make our rides better. Thanks for the reply1

Damned if you do / damned if you don't. (Where do you park?)

I know what you mean. So, I always park in the car parking spot. As heavy as my bike is, just let them try and move it. Lots of idjits out there.

My "Older Brother", keeps saying the same thing about the Mustang seat. But, I am not quite ready to shell out the long-green yet. Time will tell. I am going to try the riser route first. How forward…

Rode Thurs., stopped at Yankee's Bar & Grill in Carlos, Tx. Good burger! 2" risers and ROHO air-cell seat helped a bunch.

Well, I got those 2" risers Rick. I couldn't wait to install them and did so last night. Now it is time to ride!
November 13
Rick, I ordered those risers and am waiting for them. I am anxious to see how they work. Do you have any installation tips.

Have a friend that put risers on his SuperGlide and it helped his back tremendously. He has had back sugery and thought that he had to give up riding but the risers helped so much he is keeping his bike. Good Luck. None of us are built the same so w…

I am still waiting on someone with a Nomad 1600 2005 to give me exact advice on risers

I installed Arlen Ness 5" pull back risers on my vtx with out changing any cables or lines. They look great. this is the max I could go without changeing lines.

Thanks for the info Dennis. And, your bike looks great! So, you were able to add the risers w/o having to change the stock brake lines etc.? What were the dimensions and info on your risers?

On my Vulcan 800, I switched to a mustang seat and then found a 2" extension for the risers that didn't require and changes to the stock cables, (found that on Ebay) I can now ride all day without being uncomfortable. I know Mustang seat are pricey,…

If you don't already have a back rest get one!

I added three inchers (no mod on the lines) on my 05 1600 classic and it helped. But what really made my back feel better was the Kuryakin Grand Tour bag I put on the pillion. Not only did I get an great increase in storage, but I got a drivers back…

Profile Information

My Bike:
2005 Kawsaki Nomad 1600, blue & gray
About Me:
I am a retired band-director with 32 years in the profession. I started riding again in March of 2005 and have ridden all of the mountain peaks 11,000 feet or more of Colorado. I have also ridden in New Mexico and Arizona. Arizona has some incredible riding. I am a professional trumpet player and am still teaching. I am a Christian. I've been married to Rita for 33 years and have 2 sons and a daughter and 3 grandsons with a 4th on the way. I also am an avid fisherman and have a 21 foot boat for going offshore. The only problem is that Ike blew away my favorite launching site, the Texas City Dike.
Favorite Music:
I think the group Chicago is the best group ever, with Blood Sweat and Tears next in line. I prefer the old jazz music as in the Glenn Miller and Bennie Goodman era. Being a trumpet player, I am also really fond of any kind of brass music. But, there is a bit of a head-banger in me. Led Zepplin, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, and Grand Funk Railroad still rule.
Favorite TV Shows:
Everwood
Everybody Loves Raymond
Animal Planet
Orange County Cycles

They are real simple to add. Make sure you cover your tank with a towel so if you drop something it won't get scratched. Once you remove the two bolts that hold the factory risers on, just install the new bolts thru the old risers and into the new extensions and bolt them back on. It is helpful to have someone else around to hold the bars while you get it all done.

They mount between the stock risers and the upper triple tree. Since the upper triple tree is tilted back toward the rider, it will raise the bars about two inches and bring them closer to the rider by about 1 inch. The nomad has a rather larger speedo housing, and a lot of the curved risers will hit the chrome housing, but the straight ones that were in the link will not.
