Can you associate the problem with a bump in the road or a turn?. Do you carry a test light? Intermittent problems are a bitch. The best case scenario would be for it to die coasting into your garage and not start back up. How about the kill switch…

I nursed my kickstand switch along with WD 40, which would last for 2 weeks, then less, then not at all. Put me on the shoulder right in the middle of a construction zone the last time. Thank God it didn't shut down on me in the Eisenhower Tunnel.

I had the same problem, ended up being the coil. Couldn't identify it until it stopped and wouldn't restart.
