I have a 2006 FJR1300 that I ordered and bought new. I just can't say enough good things about it. There are more expensive sport tourers, but none better. Earlier this year a guy riding an FJR1300 with 144,000 miles on it set a new record time fr...

Hey... George.... Sorry, I've been hanging out on a couple of VFR sites the last few months. I have about 11000 on my bike now, really liking it. I wouldn't mind going somewhere, I just hate going on straight roads.

No problem on you being able to say 'HEY' to the guys in your unit. I'm on mil.com. When I made my profile there, I went to my unit page(for me- 1/82 arty). talked to the guy keeping the page, and got a list of my guys. Got to talk to a few of the guys. One of them, Jonesy, joined this club because of that. Also on military.com you can click on "buddy finder"to find someone who's been in the service. 1st Inf. has a good page there. So what does a grunt do when he gets old- groan. LOL I forget, were was the 1st Inf.? I started in the middle of the country on 105's, but got transfered up north on 155's. No wonder you got Medivac'd (dusted-off), walking point. Wanna make money; Take out life insurance on someone walking point, especially Recon. Heh, you started out like me. I went 85cc,250cc,305cc, then my Bonneville. Ride-on Brother, Wes

George...... I went to Deal's Gap and stayed in Franklin. Got there on Tue. and left Sat. I road with some better than myself riders, and picked up some good pointers. For years I've been braking late into the turns, as apposed to braking on the straight (slow-in, fast-out), staying off the brake in the turns(As you were doing)........ It DOES work a lot better. So you can teach an "Old dog new tricks"...... Part of one day I went up to the Dragon and did 6 runs bake to back U-turns no stopping, and worked on the no braking style. Much better....... John

George....Where've you been hiding? Are you just work busy? The weather's getting nice, let's try to get together. I've got a group gathering I signed up for near the Dragon area for 4 days with the VFRD forum (middle of May). Are you still riding that Great FJR?

My bike is a silver sport/touring 08' Honda 800cc / V4 / with 4 valves per cylinder (it runs on 2 valves until the RPM's reach 6600,then all 4 valves kick in.(Two plus's....No flat spots though the low/med/high range (max rpm is over 11,500 before red line) ...... The other reason is better fuel mileage, and runs on regular gas.Has two side draft water cooled radiators with one that has an elec. cooling fan. The brakes are interlocked front to rear (pull hand lever 4 out of 6 pads are activated in front, while one out of 3 are activated in the rear......push rear foot brake and 2 of 3 work in rear while 2 in front works, and of course all pads work if both levers are used at the same time).

It's also made to fit hard side bags, which I haven't purchased as of yet.

I just picked it up at the dealer in Lynchburg Thr (about 50 miles N),I put 99 mi.'s on it that day,and has been raining ever since, but should be able to get Honda's required 300 mile run in.I'm so much in love with it.I had one new in 1999 and loved that one too.Which brings me to wishing I hadn't traded to the bigger RT Beemer. The VFR is so much more fun.I don't think I'D want any thing bigger than your's.To be honest though I road with a friend on mine (GW) when I was living in Colo.,and I had to work to keep up with him in the curves.
I'd like to get together with you as well.........Laters
